Johnnie Raymond Hughes, 87, of Summerville, widower of Joan Zeigler Hughes, passed away Saturday July, 21, 2018. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 6 until 8 o’clock in Parks Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning July 24, 2018 at 11 o’clock in Summerville Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to ARK of South Carolina P.O. Box 1540 Summerville, SC 29484. Johnnie was born on Tuesday, November 18, 1930 in Orangeburg, a son of the late John L. Hughes and Margaret Judy Hughes.

Mr. Hughes was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the SC Home Builders Association, and a member of Summerville Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his special lady friend Jackie Westbury.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his sons Tim Hughes of Summerville and Todd Hughes (Beth) of Little Mountain, SC; daughters Gale Hughes of Summerville, Janet McDuff (Brian) of Summerville, and Jill Reeves (Greg) of St. George; brother John Hughes (Peggy) of Orangeburg; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friend Jackie Westbury of Orangeburg. He is predeceased by his wife Joan Zeigler Hughes; two brothers L.T. Hughes and Roy Hughes; three sisters Margie Thomas, Marie Thomas, and Idell Davis.
