Age 73 of Cottontown passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was born March 6, 1946 in Lafayette, Indiana to Elwyn & Edith Johnson Hankins. He worked as a railroad police officer for Rock Island Lines/Iowa Interstate EJ&E Railway before his retirement.

He was of the United Methodist faith. He enjoyed fishing, genealogy, history, spending time with his family and traveling. Most of all he loved being a grandfather “Papa”.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Hankins. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia Arnold Hankins, Cottontown, TN; son, Andrew (Andrea) Hankins, Ankeny, IA; step-son, Brett Greene, White House, TN; daughter, Jacque (Scott) Anderson, Norwalk, IA; step-daughter, Bridget (John) Stec, Goodlettsville, TN; brother, Kenneth Hankins, Timnath, CO; 9 grandchildren, Kyleigh Huntoon, Amanda Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Bennett Hankins, Harrison Stec, Lilah Stec, Gavin Marchant, Kaydence Westergreen and Kahne Westergreen. A memorial service is scheduled for June 28, 2019 at 11am at Dwight United Methodist Church 701 South Columbia Street Dwight, IL 60420.

Visitation with the family will be held at the same location 10-11am prior to the service with a luncheon to follow. Plans are also being made for inurnment in the Hillcrest Cemetery Columbarium in White House, TN. Memorial contributions are encouraged to Dwight United Methodist Church (see address above).
