Joseph A. “Joe” Buerger, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation in Lomira. Joe was born on February 26, 1937, the son of the late Silverious and Olive (nee Wondra) Buerger. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1956-1958 in Korea.

Joe worked for Roger Peters Construction in Fond du Lac before he became self-employed as Buerger Builders, building and remodeling homes in Lomria and the surrounding areas. He married his high school sweetheart Jean Zehren on October 11, 1958. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He enjoyed talking to family, friends and his neighbors and had a good natured personality. He had a very big heart and always had a kind word for everyone. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making things for his grandchildren, being out at the shop, and fixing things.

Those Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Jean; his children, Kevin (Christine) Buerger, Kayla (Pete) Miller, Jeff (special friend, Carol) Buerger. He will always be remembered as a great Dad. He was an amazing grandpa and great-grandpa to Lindsey (Derek) Bries, Jesse (Ashley) Miller, Zack and Tyler Miller, Allison (special friend, Simon) Buerger, Erin Garza, Hailey Johnston.

Great grandpa to Beau Bries and Brooks Miller. He is further survived by brothers and sisters, Conrad (Audrey) Buerger, Mary Ann (Wally) Betz, LuEllen (Ken) Reimer, Donna Herman, William (Joan) Buerger, Mike (Gladys) Buerger, Dean (Steffanie) Buerger; sister-in-law, Anne (John) Amerling; many wonderful and caring nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Shirley Kuechler and Kay Preipke; a brother-in-law, Francis Herman; nieces, Christine Sitter and Margaret Buerger; a nephew, Blaine Buerger; and grandson-in-law, Giovanni Garza.

A Memorial Mass for Joe will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street, in Lomira. Father Michael Petersen will officiate and burial of Joe’s cremains will follow in the parish cemetery. Joe’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Agnesian Hospice.
