Joseph’s Obituary Joseph A. Rivard, 65, of Cottrellville Township entered eternal life on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. He was born on January 14, 1954 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Marvin and June Rivard. He married Carol Christie on August 10, 1974 in New Baltimore, and they enjoyed 44 years together.

Joseph held a long-standing career for 35 years as a foreman working for Cameron Construction in Sterling Heights. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. He was always a hardworking man when it came to his career.

When he wasn’t working, Joseph enjoyed spending time outside on his eight-acre lot that he transformed into a personal park. He had a passion for gardening. He also loved animals.

He found companions in cats that wandered into his yard and even fed the mice that lived in his garage. Joseph was a social spirit in his community and would be in town at the Riviera Restaurant every day. He was also a member of the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Marine City.

Most of all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Joseph is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Joseph (Beth Miller) Rivard Jr. of Eugene, Oregon, and Rachel (Mark II) Postelwait of China Township; three grandchildren, Trevor Fields, Mark Postelwait III, and Alex Postelwait; a sister, Joyce Lynch of Marine City; and other family members and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm in the Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00am with a visitation from 10:00am until the time of service in St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, New Baltimore.
