Joseph David Cunningham, 72, of McClure, Illinois died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Southeast Hospital. He was born April 29, 1946 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Jess and Evelyn Hopper Cunningham. He and Nancy Lee Colyer were married December 10, 1963 at Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He served in the Seabees Navy Construction Battalion in the Vietnam War. He was a heavy equipment operator with IUOE Local 318 and also helped build the Bill Emerson Bridge in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Word Of Faith Fellowship Church, where he was the Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lee Cunningham of McClure, Illinois; two daughters, LeeAnn (Kevin) Borgmeyer of High Ridge, Missouri and Jessica Lee (Troy) Dwyer of Eugene, Oregon; one brother, Ronnie (Linda) Cunningham of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Tammy Lee (Darrell) Burton of Jackson, Missouri; brother and sister in Christ, Don and Susan Henson of Cape Girardeau; and faithful companion, Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Cunningham. Visitation will be 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Ford & Sons Sprigg St. Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Henson officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure with full military honors.
