Joseph’s Obituary Deacon Joseph Gant Deacon Joseph Gant was born on July 22, 1936 to the late Amelia Gant Williams and late Lionel Soule. He departed this life for his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He was united in marriage to Evelyn “Deanie” Joseph Gant on July 18, 1981 (37 years).

Deacon Gant was baptized on November 14, 1982 at Mount Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Isiah Franklin, Jr., where he served as a Deacon for many years and was affectionately known as a “prayer warrior”. He served in the United States Navy as an engineer for 8 years.

Joseph worked at International-Matex Tank Terminals (IMTT) for 20 years as a carpenter, ground-man and trackman. During his spare time, he enjoyed reading the bible, spending time with his grandchildren and doing carpentry work. He was preceded in death by his parents Amelia Gant Williams and Lionel Soule, Sister Elaine Soule Wesco, and Brother Joe Soule.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Evelyn Gant, his children Kerry (Rose), Carol Ann, Emile (Sara), Latishia (Karl), Katrina, Darryl (Tracy) and Rhonda (Chris). His grandchildren Kyrie, Andrell, Kerry, Ricci, Jimmy, Crystal, Dexter, Anissa (Kevin), Aaron, Ambrie (Phillip), Emile IV, Morgan, Amanda, Mason, Emily, Kirshanda, Keara, Dyjona (Ashton), Xavier, Ta’Leyah, Darryl Jr., Kandice (Marcus), Mervyn and Angela. His great grandchildren Tristen, Logan, Luke, Kyema, Kalea, DJ, Ethan, Emerson.

Andrell Jr., Za’Niya, AJalon, Chance and Aubrianna. His sister Ivory Soule Broom, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those that knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, Officers and Members of Mount Zion Baptist Church-St., Rose, LA are invited to attend the Visitation on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 100 Second Street, St. Rose, LA from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Followed by Funeral Services at 10:00 am. Interment Southeast Louisiana Veteran Cemetery-Slidell, LA.
