Obituary for Joseph “Joe” D. Harris Joseph “Joe” Dewy Harris, 70, of Zanesville, went to be with his Lord at 3:25 PM, Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Laurels of Heath following a lengthy illness. He was born Friday, June 25, 1948 in Cutler, the son of Gerald “Stub” and Emma “Mag” (Goins) Harris. Joe began attending Starlight School at a very young age and upon reaching adulthood continued as an employee of the Starlight Workshop.

He was a kind hearted man who loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church and never met a stranger. Joe loved to dance, sing and listen to music, and was a big fan of Elvis Presley. He enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and following his favorite baseball and football teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.

Joe loved to bowl and won many trophies in the tournaments while bowling. He also enjoyed and participated in the Special Olympics. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by one sister: Hazel (Fred) McCray of Atlanta Georgia, whom he always referred to as his baby sister; one brother: Clifford Harris of Florida; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and nephew: Carmen Evans and Jason Mayle and special friend: Julie Beasley. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles Harris, Harold “Buster” Harris, Rodney Harris and William “Billy” Harris and one sister: Bessie “Sis” Mayle. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2018, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, and one hour prior to services at the church from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM on Tuesday.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Greater Apostolic Church of Christ, 1651 State Street, Zanesville, with Elder Terrace Brown officiating.
