Joseph “Joe” Pierre December 22, 1969 – February 25, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card GRAND COTEAU ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Joseph “Joe” Pierre, age 49, who passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Mr. Pierre was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset, having been a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau.

One of his favorite past times, was spending time with his family. Survivors include his loving companion, Yolanda Plumbar, of Sunset; four sons, Deontrey Pierre, Isiasha Pierre, Christopher Pierre, all of Opelousas and Tyler Pierre of Lafayette; one step-son, John Henry of Sunset: one daughter, Jessica Giles of Pembroke, NC; two step-daughters, Ashanee Plumbar of Sunset and Brandi Henry of Lafayette; four grandchildren; two brothers, Marion Pierre, Jr. of Sunset and William Milton and his wife, Takiyah, of Grand Coteau; and one sister, Celina Milton of Opelousas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Pierre, Sr. and the former, Irma Jean Woods, both natives of Sunset; one sister, Susan Woods; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday and until service time on Saturday. Melancon Funeral Home of Grand Coteau, 289 Church Street, (337) 662-7286, is in charge of arrangements.
