Unita Renee Brown August 13, 1987 – February 14, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook GRAND COTEAU ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Unita Renee Brown, age 31, who passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Ms. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset.

She was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Survivors include her mother, Leanna Guilbeau and her stepfather, Paul, of Sunset; her father, James Milton of Sunset; one sister, Dana Milton of Texas; one brother, Kyles Milton of Houma; one stepbrother, Jarvis Barrie, of Fairland, TX; one sister-in-law, Josetta Barrie; her Godparents, R.J. Chasson and Laure Woods; her aunts and uncles, Alice Babineaux, Joseph and Gloria Rideaux, Corrine and Stan Rideaux, Marie Savoy and Joanna Brown all of Carencro, Donald Brown and Edna James of Texas, Ronald, Sr. and Debra Brown of Opelousas, Dianna and Johnny Thomas of Carencro, Delores Sampy of Lafayette and Mary Sam of Carencro; her step aunts and uncles, Victoria Bergeron, Belva and Nelton Brooks, Norma Guilbeau, Celina Guilbeau all of Sunset, Dune and Charlene Guilbeau of Opelousas, Peter and Anna GIlbeaux, Joanna Hakins, Johnny and Paula and Mickey and Melba Guilbeau all of Sunset. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Edmond Joseph Brown and Verna Mae Woods; and her maternal grandparents, Marjorie J. Milton and Robert Milton.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday. The family of Ms. Unita Renee Brown would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ageless Home Care, her caregivers: Jennifer Dean, Omri Dean, Megan Eaglin, Debra Savoie and to her Community Home Health Nurses: LPN Rosalyn, Beulah Carmouche and Yvonne Turpeau.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bergeron, Rorbert Brown, Jarvis Barrie, Charles Henry, Troy Rideau and Donald Brown-Ray, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Brown, Clifford Woods and Joseph Brown. Melancon Funeral Home of Grand Coteau, 289 Church Street, (337) 662-7286, is in charge of arrangements.
