Joseph Patrick Lewis April 03, 1956 – February 03, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries GRAND COTEAU ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Joseph Patrick Lewis, age 62, who passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Sacramento, California. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Mr. Lewis was a native and lifelong resident of Grand Coteau where he was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church.

He was previously self-employed as a handy man where he did all kinds of jobs, but was mainly involved in home remodeling. A veteran of the military, he served in the United States Army. Survivors include his loving wife, Jacqueline Babb Lewis of New York, NY; two sons, Lamark Lewis and Maurice Lewis, both of New York, NY; three step-daughters, Tosha Babb of Virginia, Maxine Babb and Monique Babb, both of New York, NY; fourteen grandchildren; his mother, the former Myrtle May Ernest; two brothers, Harold Anthony Lewis of Grand Coteau and Francis Greg Lewis of Minneapolis, MN; and four sisters, Calletta Ann Lewis, Cecilia Faye Lewis, Linda Lewis, all of Grand Coteau and Aneshia Renee Lewis of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Lewis, a native of Grand Coteau; and two brothers, Floyd Lewis, Jr. and an infant brother, Anthony Lewis. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Pierre, Julius Lewis, Jr., Harold Lewis, Wayne Richard, David Richard, Charles Lewis, Roland Lewis and John Lewis. Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave. , Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
