Gary Joseph Richard September 13, 1951 – February 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card ARNAUDVILLE ~ Funeral services will be held Monday, February 18, 2019 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Mr. Gary Richard, age 67, who passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas. Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev.

Brian Taylor, pastor of St. Genevieve Church, will officiate at the services. Mr. Richard was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville, who believed in a studious work ethic. He started his career as a surveyor, moved onto farming with his family, then to owning his own restaurant, Gary’s Maison de Manger, and G&K Trucking.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking with his son-in-law, Rusty. They took pride in crafting minor woodworking projects for Danielle. He loved taking technology lessons from his granddaughter, Gabrielle, and in return training her to develop the same sense of direction that he had.

Mr. Richard also loved spending time coaching and watching his grandson, Landon, run track, as he was a great track athlete himself. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Richard of Arnaudville; one daughter, Danielle Richard Pontiff and her husband, Rusty, of Arnaudville; two grandchildren, Gabrielle Frances Pontiff, Landon Jude Pontiff; his mother, Evangeline “Pip” Lalonde Richard; three brothers, Francis “Frankie” Richard, Jr., James Keith Richard and his wife, Julie, and Jody Richard, all of Arnaudville; one sister, Karen Chautin and her husband, Myran, of Arnaudville; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Richard, Jr. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kirk Elliot and his staff, along with Dr. Constance Cole and her staff. Pallbearers will be Landon Pontiff, Frankie Richard, Keith Richard, Jody Richard, Harold Marks and Richie Chautin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Marks, Matthew Marks, Chris Marks, Gregory Marks, Andy Chautin, Justin Chautin, Jamey Richard-Posada, Richard LeBlanc, Timmy Mallet, Mike Callondret, John “T-Boy” Richard, Myran Chautin, and Ellis Richard.
