Obituary for Joseph L. Fretas Joseph Fretas, age 86, passed away on January 9, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rachel Fretas. He is survived by his wife, Solika; daughters, Sylvia (Claude) Amar, Martine (Bruce) Knisley, Nicole (Mark) Ebner, Murielle (Jeff) Rosenberg and Patricia (Michael) Schiff; son, Alain Fretas; brother, Jacqui (Anita) Fretas; sisters, Juliette Fretas and Odette Fretas; grandchildren, Talie (Jason) Block, Dominique Amar, Julie, Aaron and Ethan Knisley, Zachary, Julian and Sabrina Ebner, Brandon Fretas, Simon, Gabriel and Seth Rosenberg, Sophie, Juliette, Stefan and Adrian Schiff; great grandchildren, Audrey Georgette Block and Jude David Block.

Joseph was a very prideful man who always displayed a strong sense of dignity and humility. His biggest priority in life was by far the importance of his close knit family. He brought them from Morocco in 1969 so that they could live in safety and have more opportunity to be free and to succeed.

He was also extremely devoted to his faith and especially displayed it every Friday night where he expected everyone to be at the Sabbath dinner meal together. He was a gentle man with a heart the size of a lion! Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 11 at Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E. Main St. Interment will follow at New Beth Jacob Cemetery.

Shiva will be observed at Fretas residence on Friday immediately following the burial, Saturday from 7-9PM, Sunday 8:30AM and 5-8PM, Monday – Wednesday from 7-9AM and 5-8PM and on Thursday from 7-9AM. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Congregation Beth Jacob www. bethjacobcolumbus.org or The James Cancer Hospital www.
