Soncuya, 87, of Elizabeth, NJ, formerly of Rahway, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, May 30th, at the Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ, from 9 to 10:30 AM at which time a Funeral Service will take place. Interment will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.

Josie was born in Newark, NJ, lived in Elizabeth the past 6 years, prior Rahway, NJ, where she lived for most of her life. She was employed as a School Teacher for 30 years retiring in 1985. Josie held a Master’s Degree, and taught 1st grade at School #1 in Elizabeth, Pre-K at Columbian School in Rahway, and Kindergarten at Franklin School in Rahway.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and old movies. Josie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph ( 1981) and Corona Soncuya (2005), and her loving brother, Robert Soncuya (2015). Surviving is her cherished nephew, Robert J. Soncuya.
