Joshua’s Obituary Joshua John ‘Josh’ Green, 39, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at his home in Myrtle Beach. Josh was born July 8, 1979 in Morgantown, son to Cecil Samuel ‘Sam’ Green of Fairmont and the late Pamela Munza Green. Josh grew up in Marion County and was a graduate East Fairmont High School class of ‘97.
He later attended WVU and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Josh’s life was anything but mundane, or “stodgy” as his vanity plate suggested. He travelled all over the world making friends at every destination.
Josh was intentional in his desire to really connect with other people everywhere he landed at home or abroad. He was a talented pianist, loved music of all genres, watching old reruns of the 80s & 90s and long talks on his front porch at 300. Josh had a passion for fast cars, the open road and a good playlist.
His love of designer labels earned him the nickname, ‘Gucci’ from his co-workers and he wore it as badge of honor. Josh was known by many names, but will always be remembered as a caring, compassionate soul with a colorful vocabulary. His storytelling was beyond compare, his quick wit and sarcasm were always welcome and his empathy for others was genuine.
For the past eight years, Josh worked as an Apprentice Funeral Director at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. Drawing from his own experiences, he comforted and cared for scores of families who have experienced loss. Recently, he decided to make a change and was looking forward to planting roots in one of his favorite vacation destinations, Myrtle Beach.
Josh reminded us, ‘Everyone has a story. ’ He is survived by his father, Sam Green and companion Terry Hill of Fairmont, his Aunt Jan Ford and husband Fred of Morgantown; Aunt Diana Munza Fergusen of Fairmont; uncle John and wife Diane Green of Rivesville; cousin Ashley ‘Goose’ Freeman of Pittsburgh; his best friend and neighbor Joan Selby.
