Joy Lucille Hodges Maci, 80, of Charlotte, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home. Joy was born April 20, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to late Charles Henry Hodges and Gertrude Ingalls Hodges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Joy Griffith.

Joy lived full life, nurturing her family and friends with generosity and love. Her kindness extended to all animals, she was very happy to be surrounded by dogs and horses . Joy was passionate about books and reading.

She worked at Room at the Inn, where she helped teen mothers get established and on their feet. Joy also worked for the First Presbyterian Church with children, on Sunday mornings. She was also a nanny for several families over the years but there was one special family the Bailey’s whom we will always be grateful to the love and generosity they extended to her.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 12115 University City Blvd, Harrisburg, NC. Survivors include daughter, Maliene Williams of Harrisburg, NC, sons, Cash Griffith of Westport, MA. and Charles Griffith of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Megan William, Eddie Williams, C.J. Griffith; great-grandchildren, Ben Williams, McKenzie Williams and Jordan Griffin.
