Joyce A. Bell, 86, of Drums, passed away Sunday evening at her home after being in ill health since September. Born in Nuremberg, April 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna (Kamerzel) Berger, she spent the past 62 years in Drums after residing previously in Nuremberg and Connecticut. Joyce was a homemaker for most of her life, but had also worked in the Drums Elementary School Cafeteria; as a waitress in local restaurants; and in the laundry at Beech Mountain Lakes.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Drums. She had served as a cub scout leader, when her children were young. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and browsing yard sales.

She especially enjoyed listening to singer Daniel O’Donnell, having attended her last concert of his in April, 2017. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Carlos C. “Bud” Bell, Jr., who passed away November 26, 1994; a grandson Bradley Zimmerman, August 4, 2002; and sisters Dolly Shafer, Jane Knorr, and infant sister Ruth Berger. Surviving are four children Debbie Zimmerman and her husband Ronald, Drums; Sharon Justofin and her husband Barry, Drums; Carlos C. “Skip” Bell, III and his wife Laura, Kutztown; and Jim Bell and his wife Stacey, Lititz; six grandchildren Tanya Albertson; Allie Dedman; Rich, Jeff, Lauren, and Ashleigh Bell; four great-grandchildren Samantha McDonald, Kailey Zimmerman, Sam and Ben Dedman; three sisters Betty Reitmeyer, Nuremberg; Ilamae Brior, Rock Glen; and Jean Klesh, Nuremberg; many nieces and nephews and her cat of 13 1/2 years, Stella.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 11 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, with Chaplain Andra Gennaria, of Maylath Home Health and Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Drums Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening 6-8 pm and Friday morning from 10 am until the time of the service.
