JOYCE’s Obituary Joyce Thyne (nèe Wallis), 81 years old of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 15, 2019 at Rolling Hills Manor, Zion, IL. She was born on October 23, 1937 to the late Vincent and Violet Wallis. She grew up in Waukegan and remained in the area after she graduated from Waukegan High School in 1955.

Joyce worked at North Shore Gas Company, Nosco, Outboard Motors Corp. , and Hoerner Box/Champion. She retired from AFV/American Fiber Velope, and after retirement she worked at Orchard Hills Golf Course.

Joyce was a breast cancer survivor of 28 years. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan and a dedicated Nascar fan. Throughout her life, she loved bowling, golfing, boating on the Chain O’ Lakes, fishing, cross-stitching, reading, and being with family and friends.

She always greeted you with her beautiful smile and loved meeting new people. She will be truly missed by her children, Laurie (Ron) Perz of Winthrop Harbor, IL; J. Doug (Mary) Thyne of Winthrop Harbor, IL; and Cathy Stilling of Pewaukee, WI; sister, Linda Grammar of North Las Vegas, NV; brother Charles (Joanne) Wallis of Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Michael Stilling, Jeremy Stilling, and Melissa (Jarrett) Nikkila; five nieces and a nephew; and her beloved cat Janey. In addition, survivors of the extended family include, David Cashmore, Randy (Kristin) Cashmore, Kevin (Liz) Cashmore, John Thyne, Marc (Melissa) Tassotti and many friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; brother in law, James Grammar; and her long-time companion, Richard Cashmore. A Celebration of Life will be held with close family and friends at a later date. A special thank you goes out to all her Caregivers at Vista East, Rolling Hills Manor and JourneyCare Hospice.
