Mrs. Joyce E. Jones of Laurel, DE and formerly of Millsboro, and Wilmington passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. She was 87 years old. Joyce was born in Laurel, DE on August 23, 1930 to the late Harrison and Leona Hollawell Rayne.

In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Johnny E. Jones in 2004 as well as two sisters, Josephine Cherrix and Evelyn Boyce. She received her education in Wilmington. Joyce was a homemaker, devoted to her husband and family and sacrificed a lot on their behalf.

She was an expert at pulling her kids ears to keep them in line when necessary. Joyce loved cats, crochet, reading and shopping. She was a wonderful cook and could make meals that were “out of this world”.

She is survived by five children, Sandy Whaley of Wayne, IN; Johnny Jones, Jr.; Ricky Jones (Kim); David Jones (Linda) and Steven Jones (Brenda) all residing in Millsboro, DE. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Wayne, Tommy, Tirza, Samantha, Liza, David II, Chelsey and Tayler as well as fourteen great grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM for viewing and visitation. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
