Joyce Marie Gilpin, 78, died May 13th, 2018. Joyce Marie Gilpin was born on November 7th, 1939, to Isaac Frenzella (I.F.) Curry and Lenora Myrtle (Ellis) Curry. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George Isaac, Elmo and wife Virginia, Tolbert and wife Mary, brother in-law Earnest Walker, brother Earl, sister in-law Fannie Lou, and sister in-law Billie.

Marie was a long-time member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ in Searcy, AR. She worked at Harding University in the Patti Cobb (1977-1987), Charles White (1987-1999), and Harding Place (1999-2004) dining rooms starting as cashier, cook, and retired as head cook in 2004 after 27+ years. Marie and Joseph Manly met in January of 1961, while both were working in the cafeteria at Abilene Christian College.

Married in September of 1961, Manly and Marie moved to Weyburn, Saskwatchen in October 1961. The first of four children, James Marvin, was born in 1962, in Weyburn. Joseph Milton was born in 1964, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

After Manly graduated from Sunset School of Preaching in July 1968, Manly and Marie moved to Red Deer, Alberta, where Janice Myrtle was born in 1970. The family moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in 1970, where Jan Michael was born in 1972. In 1977 the family settled in Searcy, Arkansas.

Marie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Manly Gilpin, brothers Ralph Curry, Wayne and sister in-law Vesta Curry, Vernon and sister in-law Judy Curry; sisters, Sybil Walker, Eunice and brother in-law Carol Robertson, Gladys and brother in-law Everett Williams, sister in-law Beulah Curry, sister in-law Joyce Shehyn, sister in-law Gail Windover, brother in-law John Gale, former daughter in-law Lisa McQuerter, daughter in-law Monna Gilpin, son in-law, Roman Ibarra, daughter in-law Kristina Gilpin, Sharon Auerbach, and grandchildren Joseph, Nick, Drew, Meghan, Luis, Gracelynn, Kasen, Breckyn, and Jersey. Visitation will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Cloverdale Church of Christ. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2:00pm at Cloverdale Church of Christ.

Burial will be at Henderson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends contributions to support the Searcy Children’s Home. www.
