Obituary for JP “Sonny” Purcell JP “Sonny” Purcell, Jr. age 80 , of Winnsboro, passed away on Monday, December 24th, 2018, in Winnsboro. He was born on March 27th, 1938 in Wink, Texas, to the late JP, Sr. and Ann Holt Purcell . He married Sherry Patterson, the love of his life, on May 28, 1965 and they were married for 53 years.

They made their home in Winnsboro for 47 years having moved from Irving, Tx. JP was the owner of Purcell Electric and worked as an electrical contractor for over 50 years. He also owned and raised chickens for Pilgrim’s Pride for 25 years before he retired.

JP was a faithful member of First Baptist Church – Winnsboro from the time he moved to the area in 1971, until his death. He was also a Mason and reached the position of Worshipful Master at the Pickton Lodge. JP is survived by his wife Sherry; one daughter Michellle Purcell Dobbs and husband David; three grandchildren Mandi Dobbs Barron and husband Nathan Barron of Austin, Tx, Austin Dobbs of San Angelo and Abigail Dobbs of Quitman He was preceded in death by one daughter Danielle Purcell and one sister RoJean Hataway.
