Obituary for J.R. “Red” McKinney Marvin J. McKinney was born on February 16, 1937 in Colbert, OK to Marvin Edgar and Margaret Katherin (Norris) McKinney. Marvin passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Colbert at the age of 81. J.R. “Red” as he was known has been a life long resident of Bryan County.

He attended school at Colbert and later married the love of his life, Mary who preceded him in death. J.R. worked as a welder by trade and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, horses and chickens. J.R. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McKinney; parents, Marvin and Margaret McKinney; sister, Louise Irwin and brother, Kenneth McKinney.

J.R. is survived by his children, Patricia McKinney of Achille, OK, Phillip McKinney and wife Melissa of Colbert, OK and Jimmy McKinney and wife Lisa of Calera, OK; sister, Rebecca Taylor and husband Jeff of Wichita, KS; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 7-9 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service. A private family burial will be held with Pastors Tyler McKinney and James Goodman officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tyler McKinney, Josh McKinney, Daniel Bruce, Cooper McKinney, Jonathan Bruce and Ethan Rose serving as pallbearers. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. brownsfuneralservice.com.
