Juan is survived by his wife of 45 years and the “love of his life”, Margie; children, Angelica and Juan Carlos (Hito); grandchildren, Marissa, Miguel Angel, Daniel and Noe; son-in-law, Juan and favorite daughter-in-law, Patti; brothers and sisters, Epifanio, Belen, Rosa, Beto, Abel, Gustavo and Felipe; many nephews, nieces, extended family, compadres and friends. Juan was born on a ranch in Arroyo Seco de en Medio, Zacatecas, Mexico on February 20, 1953 to Justa Mallaganes and Juan Hurtado Sr
He spent his early years working on the ranch and going to school. Juan made his way to the United States as an early enthusiastic adult and learned a trade, earned an apprenticeship and worked in a foundry for the next 34 years. Juan has lived in Patterson for more than 19 years.
He loved this community and his neighborhood. He was an extremely hard worker and proud to also extend his work ethic as a local handyman. Always willing and able to help any family, friends or neighbors in need.
Juan was very vibrant, caring and funny. He enjoyed life and everything that came with it. One of his hobbies included buying, fixing and selling cars and trucks.
This is how he became a local favorite at Thompson Chevrolet. He spent many days working on cars with his son and grandsons. Another hobby included going to the casino with his wife, brothers and friends to gamble, eat dinner and “test his luck”.
Juan was also a big lover of music and would enjoy singing his favorite songs out loud and listening to CD’s. Juan’s faith and family meant everything to him. His life was devoted to creating the best experiences for his family, through unconditional love and commitment to them.
That included cooking for the family, spending time together, frequently communicating and praying. He was an excellent cook and always would make sure he prepared his grandkids’ favorite dishes when they went over to eat. As a devout Catholic, Juan also instilled faith into family traditions.
Family and faith is what kept him strong. Juan left a great impression everywhere he went and with everyone he met. Those he has left behind are heartbroken but know he will have better days now and we will all meet again.
He will always be in our hearts and memories. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 13th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.
