Jud R. Hinaman, 98, of Jersey Shore passed peacefully Friday, May 17, 2019 at Jersey Shore Manor Care. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Josephine M. (Wool) Hinaman. Born January 28, 1921, in Akron, Ohio he was a son of the late Arthur W. and Mildred M. (Remick) Hinaman.

After graduating high school Jud proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After returning home, Jud started Cherry and White Cleaners in Williamsport and continued a hands on career as a well-known crane operator in our area. From an early age Jud found a passion for all things aviation, piloting his own private plane and associating himself with anything near the runway.

His flights allowed him to travel to Canada in more recent days and during his military time his photos were instrumental in the recovery and rebuild of damaged military planes. He was a member of Oriole United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying, photography, and was proud of his military service.

Jud was a very hard working, strong man who had endless stories about his life experiences to share. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife and children and above all else loved being called “Pop-Pop”. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Heidi Matthews (Darren), of Jersey Shore, Richard “Rick” Hinaman (LuAnn), of Tunkhannock, Gary Helminiak, of Jersey Shore, David Helminiak (Renee), of Waterville, Ron Helminiak, of Jersey Shore, Ed Helminiak (Janine), of Loyalsock, and Joanne Thomas (Bud), of Jersey Shore; his grandchildren, Madelyn “Mat”, Grace and Bradley; a brother, David N. Hinaman (Alice), and an abundant amount of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, Theodore, Charles, Thomas, and Doris Hinaman. A funeral service to honor the life of Jud will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Max W. Furman officiating.

Burial will follow with Military honors in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Sanders. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jud’s name to the Lycoming County Hometown Heroes, Inc., care of Veterans Affairs, 48 West Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
