Obituary for Judy Jacobson Judy Lynn Jacobson, 67 years of age, of rural Holdrege, passed away on October 9th, 2018 at her home north of Holdrege surrounded by her family following a 3 year battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Elm Creek United Methodist Church in Elm Creek, Nebraska with Pastor Venedith Vargas officiating. A burial will be held at 1:30 pm at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Chapel in Elm Creek and one hour before the service at the church. Judy was born October 1, 1951 in Oxford, Nebraska, the fourth of four children born to Raymond and Maxine (Watts) Breinig. She grew up on a farm in rural Arapahoe, Nebraska.

Judy attended Arapahoe Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1969. She then pursued higher education at Kearney State College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. On December 30, 1972 even through a winter blizzard, she was united in marriage to Ronald Dean Jacobson at St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska.

To this union two children were born: Michael Lee and Amy Elizabeth. They moved to rural Holdrege to help the Jacobson family farm which started in 1894. Judy was a homemaker and an active farmwife.

Through the years, she was involved with the Williamsburg Methodist Church, Garden Club and many of her childrens’ and her grandchildrens’ activities. Judy also enjoyed nature and gardening, a love she passed on to her children. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 45 years, Ron Jacobson of rural Holdrege; her two children, Mike Jacobson and his wife Renae of rural Elm Creek, Amy Minicilli and her husband Eric of Coronado, California; two grandchildren, Chase and Tyler Jacobson; her siblings, Robert and Janice Breinig of rural Holdrege, Richard and Judith Breinig of rural Arapahoe, and Larry and Sherry Breinig of rural Arapahoe, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Joan Jacobson of Holdrege, Nebraska.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Breinig; mother, Maxine Breinig; and father-in-law, Wayne Jacobson. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.
