Obituary for Merna C. Winslow Merna C. Winslow Kearney Resident Merna C. Winslow, 92, of Kearney passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at her home in Kearney. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Pastor Sean Dougherty officiating. Inurnment will be held at Kearney Cemetery following the service.

Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Merna C. Winslow was born on March 10, 1926 to Isaac Otha and Vera (Mellott) Clark in Eddyville, Nebraska. Merna received her education from Eddyville High School.

Following her education Merna worked as a waitress for several different cafés in the area. She later worked for the University of NE-Kearney in food service and as a caregiver for Kearney Area Agency on Aging. Merna was united in marriage to Ben Winslow on October 1, 1946 in Phillipsburg, Kansas and to this union two children were born: Jerry and Kristi.

Ben preceded her in death in 1971. Merna enjoyed gardening, she canned much of what she grew and enjoyed her flowers. She loved to feed the birds and the squirrels and liked sewing and crafting.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Jerry and his wife, Betty Winslow of Kearney; daughter Kristi Winslow of Kearney; grandchildren Jim Winslow, Karen (Mark) Humphrey and Angela Winslow; great-grandchildren Brianna (Jonathan) Petersen and Jensen, Maycee, Eryn, Austin, Jordan and Jaymie Humphrey; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.
