Obituary for Julia Hooghkirk (Apicella) Julia Angelina Apicella Hooghkirk, age 92, of West Haven passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on June 28, 2018 at CT Hospice. Born in New Haven on June 16, 1926, daughter of the late John and Assunta Apicella. She was the wife of the late Howard Hooghkirk.

Julia is survived by her daughters Carol (Andrew) Morytko of West Haven and Joanne (Dana) Wilson of OH, her son Robert (RiAnn) Hooghkirk of Milford, her grandchildren Kelly Cooper of FL, Megan (Jeffery) Dams of Co, Kristin (Kevin) Huebschman and Daniel Wilson all of OH and Asia Hooghkirk of Milford and her seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Vincent (Lina) Apicella of NJ. Julia attended St John’s Commercial School, New Haven class of 1942.

She was a longtime resident of West Haven and a parishioner of OLOV Church for 64 years. For many years Julia enjoyed tap dancing with the Orange Blossoms Dance Group. She also loved line and ballroom dancing.

She was a member of the West Haven Italian American Club and had many friends at Tuesday afternoon Bingo. Julia received wonderful compassionate care from the home-care and in-house nurses and staff at CT Hospice. Her family will be forever grateful for their collective kindness.

Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 10:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Victory Church at 11am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to CT Hospice 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06516.
