Kolonko Friesenhahn went to be with the lord on March 17, 2019 in New Braunfels, TX. She was born on March 25, 1924 in St. Hedwig, TX to Peter and Rosalia (Kotara) Kolonko. Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Richard, Leonard, Joe, and Pete Kolonko; an infant daughter, Rose Mary; and her husband Roman A. Friesenhahn.

She is survived by her daughter Theresa Roberts and husband Richard; her sons Mark Friesenhahn and wife Jackie, Larry Friesenhahn and wife Phyllis, and Martin Friesenhahn and wife Jana; six grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Barbie, Robert (Bobby), Derek, and Haley; six great-grandchildren, Luke, Skylar, Ayden, Connor, Aria, and Lilia; and numerous Nieces and Nephews. She loved gardening, animals, quilting, sewing and 9-pin bowling. She canned pickles that were to die for! She treasured her life on the farm during a 50+ year marriage with Roman.

After his death, she took over the duties and with the help of her family they kept the farm running. She had a keen eye when it came time to select new livestock, such as a new bull she named Jake. Jake became one of her more productive bulls.

It became common for her children to hear neighbors comment “We saw Julia feeding cows in the corral the other day – at 90 years of age? – Wow! ” She was always friendly to visitors and strangers alike, and no one left her farm house hungry.

There was always a great meal ready at a minute’s notice. Over the years, many of her family received countless compliments about Julia’s friendly and helpful ways. Her influence on family and those around her were strong and heartwarming.
