Karen’s Obituary Miss Karen Elizabeth O’Hara, 61, of Frederick, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on January 17, 2019. Born on September 14, 1957 in Frederick, she was the daughter of A. LaMar O’Hara and the late Mary Keller O’Hara. Karen was born in Frederick and raised on the O’Hara family farm on Cap Stine Road.

She attended and graduated from the Rock Creek School. Karen loved everyone she met and was always ready to give a hearty hug, even if she just met them. She lived on the family farm all of her life, until she moved into a Frederick Community Living home in 2014.

Karen loved the farm and had a special connection to the farm animals – in particular her Shetland pony, the baby farm animals and her many collie dogs. She enjoyed time spent with Beauty, her pony, and looked forward to being able to care for her. Whenever dad or one of her brothers was available, she especially enjoyed taking a ride on Beauty.

Karen enjoyed bowling with her friends and participated in several bowling leagues. Karen worked for over 20 years at the Jeanne Bussard Center, first on West South and later at the new location on South Market Street. She looked forward to sharing the day with her friends.

In her leisure, Karen loved to work in her coloring books and make yarn rugs. She also enjoyed playing basketball, riding her bicycle, spending time with her nieces and nephews, taking rides in the farm truck and running many farm errands with her dad and brother. Karen looked forward to and always enjoyed competing in the Maryland Special Olympics.

Karen was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, formerly St. Matthews Lutheran Church, on Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick. She also enjoyed attending Grange, Farm Bureau, 4-H and FFA activities with her family. The family extends special appreciation to Community Living, Inc. of Frederick and its entire wonderful, dedicated staff that provided care for Karen.

We also thank Hospice of Frederick County for the loving care provided in Karen’s final weeks. In addition to her father, Karen is survived by brothers; Allen and his wife Janice, and Eddie and his wife Kay, all of Frederick.
