Karen Michelle Mittlestat June 04, 1967 – March 11, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Karen Michelle Mittlestat, age 51, of Brown City, MI passed away with family by her side Monday, March 11, 2019 at United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette, MI. She was born June 4, 1967 in Pontiac, MI daughter of Larry and Lorraine (Wright) Blain. Karen grew up in the Waterford and Lapeer areas and attended Lapeer West High School graduating with the Class of 1985.

She married Mark Mittlestat on August 19, 1989 in Davison Township and they were married for 29 years. Karen was an Administrative Assistant for State Mutual Insurance Company for 12 years leaving to raise her family. After a successful and rewarding career as a stay at home mom Karen decided she wanted to do something helping others.

She became a Certified Nurses Aide and worked in that field at Wellbridge of Romeo Nursing Home until beset by illness. Karen attended Brown City United Methodist Church in Brown City, MI. She loved spending time with her family, reading, photography, flower gardening and going to the beach.

Karen is survived by her husband, Mark of Brown City, MI; one daughter, Julie Mittlestat of Shelby Township, MI, one son, Jacob (Amber) Mittlestat of Sterling Heights, MI; one granddaughter, Peyton Karen Mittlestat expected in August; her mother, Lorraine Blain of Lapeer, MI; two sisters, Sherrie Blain of Cadillac, MI and Liberty Blain (Claus) Johnson of Cheyenne, WY; one brother, Stewart Blain of Lapeer, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Blain. The family will receive visitors from 3 – 8 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and from 10 AM until time of the service Thursday at the church.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Brown City United Methodist Church 7043 Lincoln St., Brown City, MI with Pastor Denny Irish officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Brown City United Methodist Church or United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital. You may share an online condolence with the family at www.
