Obituary of Karen Bauer Boonville- Karen E. (Anna) Bauer, 64, of State Rt. 26, formerly of West St. Boonville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Karen was born in Boonville, on April 17, 1954, a daughter of David E. and Celia Paul Anna.

She received her education at Adirondack Central School, Boonville, graduating with the Class of 1972. Thereafter Karen furthered her education attending SUNY Cortland, where she earned a Bachelor Degree and a Master’s degree in education, graduating from SUNY Cortland, with the Class of 1975. From 1975 until the present time, Karen taught various grade levels from elementary to high school subjects at Adirondack Central School District, Remsen Central School and South Lewis Central School.

At the present time Karen was employed for Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, in the activities department. Karen attended Christ Our Hope Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville and also attended the West Leyden Reformed Church. She was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association, West Leyden.

She married Wayne G. Bauer, on May 26, 1979 and he passed away on May 11, 2011. Karen dedicated her life to teaching; she took a special interest in each of her students and found great enjoyment in teaching school and watching her students and all of the area’s youth progress in their education and extra-curricular activities. She also loved animals, spending time with her children and helping people however and wherever she was able to do so.

Karen is survived by three daughters, Heather, Magen and Sarah Bauer. She was predeceased by her son, Justin Bauer, her parents, David and Celia (Peggy) Anna and by a brother, Donald Anna. In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours or services.

Memorial contributions may be made to West Leyden Reformed Church and cards of sympathy may be sent to P.O. Box 70, West Leyden, NY 13489. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
