Obituary for Katherine Cecelia Merrill Katherine Merrill passed away peacefully in Monterey, after a long illness on Thursday, January 25th, 2018, at the age of 96. She was born on April 20th, 1921, to Joseph Kane and Veronica (Olenick) Kane in Eynon, PA. In 1944 she met and married Aubry Gene Merrill, a Navy Chief Petty Officer.

They traveled to duty stations in various places including, Newark, NJ; Pearl City, Hawaii; San Diego, Alameda, Hayward CA; and Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. Katherine was a talented seamstress and enjoyed various outdoor activities such as gardening, bird watching and photography. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Aubrey Gene Merrill in October 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bova (Joseph) plus numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made out in Katherine’s name to the American Cancer Society or Central Coast Visiting Nurses Association.
