Katherine Wolfstirn, 94, passed away on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at The Oaks in Denville. Formerly of Dunellen, she was born in Jersey City to the late Emil and Katherine (Thrunk) Wolfstirn. She graduated from Seton Hall University with a BS in Chemistry.

She would then go on to work as a research chemist for Bell Labs in Murray Hill. Katherine would then get her Masters Degree from Rutgers University and work in software requirements development for Bellcore before retiring in 1991. She was a devout Catholic who loved her Irish roots.

In later years, she enjoyed walking to daily mass. She never met an animal she didn’t love. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Besides her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her brother George Wolfstirn. She is survived by her nieces, Karen Smith and Sue Garner and by her nephews George and Jack Wolfstirn.

Also surviving is her sister-in-law Marie Wolfstirn and 10 great nieces and nephews and 9 great, great nieces and nephews. A mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
