Obituary for Kathleen McGuigan Kathleen “Kosh” Cosgrove McGuigan Kathleen ‘Kosh’ Cosgrove McGuigan, age 55, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 13, 2018. Kosh was born on November 26, 1962 in Philadelphia, PA to Capt. David and Kathleen McGuigan.
She spent her childhood moving around the country, including stints in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Washington State, and Massachusetts. She graduated from St. Leonard’s Academy of the Holy Child in 1981 and from Saint Joseph’s University in 1985. While at St. Joseph’s she spent a semester abroad attending Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
Upon completing her undergraduate education she attended Widener University School of Law at the University of Delaware, ultimately graduating in 1989 with her Juris Doctor. Kosh went on to become an accomplished lawyer, practicing notably for Barnett and Brown, P.C. in Philadelphia. She met her husband Antonis Papadourakis on her birthday in 1986 and they married in April of 1991.
Together they had three sons, Grigorios, Antonios, and Andreas. The family spent eight years in Europe, including four years in England and four years in France. Kosh was a fiercely devoted mother, daughter, sister, and wife.
She put others needs before her own and created an exceptional environment at home for her family. Every meal was spent together at a beautifully set table, no matter how busy everyone’s schedules became as they got older. She worked tirelessly and contributed to all aspects of her children’s lives.
She volunteered for any and every room parent role and after-school activity. You would often see Kosh at the break of dawn on Sunday mornings, helping set up the Eustace tent on the banks of the Schuylkill River for her sons’ rowing regattas. She spent countless hours organizing parties, banquets, and other events for both the rowing and soccer teams of Bishop Eustace.
Kosh was extremely hardworking and persistent. When she dedicated herself to something she could not stop until it was perfect (or as close to perfect as she could make it). She had a way of putting her signature on every holiday, birthday and special occasion that came her way.
Kosh made sure to teach her children the values of love, family, and integrity. She made the lives of those around her infinitely better. Kosh is survived by her husband, Antonis; her three sons; Grigorios, Antonios, and Andreas; her parents, David and Kosh; and her three brothers; David (Valerie), Francis (Stacy), and Paul (Michele).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 8:30-9:15 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, 200 Windsor Ave, Haddonfield. The funeral service will follow at 9:30 a.m., with Fr. John A. Pietropaoli presiding.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in honor of Kosh to the ALS Association of the Greater Philadelphia area (www. alsphiladelphia.org/) or any other chapter of the ALS Association.
