Mrs. Kathryn Brown Mahaffey, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away on March 28, 2019 at her residence. She was born on August 21, 1927 in Yadkin County to the late Alex C. and Ila Spear Brown. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

She retired from the National Labor Relations Board. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Mahaffey; four sisters, Maxine Johnson, Bea Goodman, Nancy Brown, Nell Holcomb, brother-in-law, Junior Mahaffey and sister-in-law, Louise Mahaffey. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Stafford; son, Neil Mahaffey and fiancé Tonya Berger; one grandson, Justin Mahaffey and wife Christie; one sister, Ouida Brown; one brother in law J. C. Holcomb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. David Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Mount Airy Office, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
