Hescht Starr, 70 of East Liverpool passed away at the home of her granddaughter in East Liverpool on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Born on September 29, 1948, in Newell, WV; she was a daughter of the late Pete Leek and Lois Phillips Murphy. Before retiring, she had worked for 15 years at various restaurants as a waitress. Earlier she was a Real Estate agent in Cleveland, OH.

A graduate of Kent State, she was a former member of the Newell Nazarene Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Edward Gallagher II, and Tammy White; and two brothers, Robert K. Murphy, and Rex A. Murphy. Survivors include her daughter, Heidi L. Gallagher of East Liverpool; and her brothers, Kenneth (Ty) Phillips and Burton L. Murphy, both of Chester.

Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive as well. Kathryn’s family is fulfilling her wishes that no services be held. She is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
