In Loving Memory Of Kathryn Marie Schmidt Kathryn Schmidt, the daughter of Cornelis and Lena (Ackerman) Ebbenga, was born on March 24, 1919 in Sibley, IA. She grew up Iowa and South Dakota where she attended school. Kathryn was united in marriage to Fred B. Schmidt on August 29, 1939 in George, IA.

After their marriage they lived in George and then to Reading, MN where she has lived since. Kathryn was known for her hard work and her crafting. She ran a baler, worked at Campbell’s Soup, Gordy’s Bakery.

She also did upholstery work, painting, wallpapering and she loved to work with wood, building something, even up to the age of 99. Kathryn was out using her saw just a few days before her last birthday. Kathryn passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN at the age of 99.

She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading. Survivors include her daughter, Ethel Rogers of Reading, MN; daughter-in-law, Verla Wheeler of Reading, MN; 5 grandsons, Todd (Jackie) Rogers, Jeff (Ann) Rogers, Tim (Melissa) Rogers, Ron, Schmidt and Brad Schmidt; 5 great-grandchildren, Stuart (fiancée, Nina) Rogers, Blake Rogers, Nolan Rogers, Katie Rogers and Ben Rogers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Wendell Schmidt, infant daughter, Debbie Schmidt, son-in-law, Jerry “Jerk” Rogers, grandsons, Mike, Donnley and Jon Schmidt, brothers, Richard and Peter Ebbenga and sisters, Margaret Revel and Kathrine Ebbenga.

Funeral Services Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church Reading, MN at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 21, 2018 with Del Bolluyt officiating. The pianist is Linda Kingery. Special music by Sheila Crowley and Del Bolluyt.

The pallbearers are her great grandkids. Honorary pallbearer is Bud Fritz. Interment at Worthington Memorial Gardens Worthington, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements. Send condolences online at www.
