In Loving memory of Diann Marie Hafner Diann Hafner was born on January 22, 1948 in Pipestone, Minnesota to Don and Lorraine Hartman Groves. Diann grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1966. Diann then attended SDSU in Brookings, SD for one year before transferring to Southwest State in Marshall where she graduated Cum Laude with an Art Major.

On August 19, 1967 she and Trace Hafner were married in Slayton, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton. Diann was an artist in many mediums painting, pottery, stained glass, wood carving, Spinning, Felting and Norwegian Sami Bracelets.

Diann has served as the Superintendent of the Creative Arts at the Murray County Fair for several years. Due to failing health Diann moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on August 30, 2018 where she passed away on September 5, 2018 at the age of 70. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Slayton.

She also was a member of many fiber organizations and guilds in Minnesota and South Dakota. Diann enjoyed shopping thrift stores for the many hidden treasures that they could produce. Survivors include her husband, Trace Hafner of Slayton, MN, three children and their spouses, Ashley and Brett Saum of Arvada, CO, Marc and Steffani Hafner of Louisville, CO and Jay and Heidi Hafner of Lakewood, CO, seven grandchildren, Logan and Emmett Saum, Max, Clay Hafner, and Eva, Zoe, and Vaughn Hafner, four siblings and their spouses, Dennis and Dori Groves of Missoula, MT, Julie and Rick Grann Cheyenne, WY, Mary and Mike Denker of Leech Lake, MN, and Randy and Dawn Groves of Slayton, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services United Methodist Church in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Ethanie Schmidt officiating. The organist is Janet Voges.

The pallbearers are Brett Saum, Dennis Groves, Rick Grann, Mike Denker, Randy Groves, Larry Hafner and Marshall Isder. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN. Visitation will be on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to Murray County Hospice.
