In Loving Memory of Phyllis Ann Urke Hindt Phyllis Hindt was born on June 17, 1936 on the family farm near Vesta, Minnesota to Melvin and Isabelle Regnier Urke. Phyllis attended Milroy High School. In 1955 the family moved to Slayton, MN.

On November 29, 1958 she and Donald Hindt were married in Marshall, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in Iona, MN. Donald passed away on December 3, 1965 as the result of an automobile accident with his father, George, leaving Phyllis to raise their five children.

In 1966 the family moved to Slayton, MN and Phyllis went to work at the Slayton School as a cook. Phyllis retired in 2000. In 2010 Phyllis moved to Keystone Communities in Prior Lake, MN to be near family.

In 2014 she moved to New Perspective Senior Living in Faribault, MN where she passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the age of 82. She was a member of the Slayton Presbyterian Church where she was active in the ladies group. She also was a member of the Iona VFW Auxiliary, the Red Hat Ladies, and several card clubs.

Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, walking, and playing cards especially pinochle, coffee time with friends, and the Minnesota Twins. Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Randy and Terry Hindt of Lakeville, MN, Pam and Dave Anderson of Lakeville, MN, Patti and Tom Burns of Burnsville, MN, and Dave and Heidi Hindt of Prior Lake, MN, one daughter-in-law, Veronica Hindt of Charlotte, NC, 10 grandchildren, Kristen and Lauren Hindt, Jaci and Sam Anderson, Jake and Hanna Hindt, and Brian, Matt, Amber and Dani Hindt, one great-granddaughter Gracie Hindt, six siblings, Shirley Tholen of Pipestone, MN, Delbert Urke of Elk River, MN, Joyce Hindt of Lincoln, Il, June Condreay of Golden, Co, Linda Urke of Stillwater, MN, and Doug Urke and his wife Connie of St. Cloud, MN, four Urke brothers-in-law, Bruce Nelson, of Marshall, MN, Lloyd Hindt of Iona, MN, Joe Wobbema of Eveleth, MN, Jim Farr of River Falls, WI, eight Hindt brothers and sisters-in-law, Doll Taylor of Fergus Falls, MN, Marian Lentz and her husband, Bud of Slayton, MN, Richard Hindt of Fulda, MN, Florence Greger of Bloomington, MN, Helen Vogel of Slayton, MN, Rose Knutson of Redwood Falls, MN, Carol Kuhl and her husband, Pete of Ontario, CA, and Gary Hindt and his wife Jenni of Wabasso, MN, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Hindt, son, Mike Hindt, father and mother-in-law, George and Josephine Hindt, four sisters, Bev Nelson, Carol Hindt, Mavis Wobbema and Alona Farr, one Urke sister-in-law, Sharon Urke, nine Hindt brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Taylor, Clara Spartz and her husband Frank, Evelyn Lentz and her husband Junior, Dorothy Gehlsen, JoAnn Hindt, Irvin Greger, Pete Vogel, Mahlon Knutson and George A. Hindt.

Funeral Services Slayton Presbyterian Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Dave Hollis officiating. The organist is Kathy Magnus with special music by Sharon Hindt. The Pallbearers are Denny Spartz, Duane Spartz, Rod Spartz, Terry Hindt, Dean Hindt, and Myron Bennett.

Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Memorial may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
