Kenneth Dwain Smith September 10, 1959 – March 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Kenneth D. “KD” Smith Sept. 10, 1959 — March 27, 2019 Kenneth is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters, Danielle and Angelique; granddaughter, Lily Thornton of Walla Walla; siblings, Patty and Bobby Tramell, Brenda and Bobby Oneal of Vian, Oklahoma, Jimmy and Doreen Smith of Ochelata, Oklahoma, Willie and Colleen Streeter of Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlin and Lloyd Streeter and Jimmy Smith.

Kenneth attended public schools in Walla Walla and joined ROTC in his high school years. In Spring of 1980 he met his wife Julie and married June 14, 1980, in North Platte, Nebr. Their favorite activity was dancing.

He worked power line construction for 3 to 4 years. Worked several odd jobs to support his family until he was hired on at the Washington State Penitentiary, which was the career he always admired. He started there November 27, 1986 to March 18, 2013 when he became disabled.

Kenneth loved camping, fishing, horse back riding, gem and gold digging and numerous activities with his family and friends. He loved his dogs. People who knew Kenneth knew his sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

He loved to cook for friends and family. Kenneth and Julie were foster parents for 10 years. We would like to thank St. Mary Medical Center ICU Staff for the wonderful care that they had given Kenneth.

We would also like to thank all ours friends that supported us through this unexpected time of grief. A memorial service to celebrate and honor Kenneth (KD) life will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, 4 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 West Alder, Walla Walla, WA. Any memorial donations may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul of Walla Walla, 308 W Main St., Walla Walla, WA 99362.
