Kenneth E. Stephenson, 83, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at AustinWoods Nursing Center. Ken was born on December 28, 1934 in Struthers, a son of George and Hazel Krimmer Stephenson. He attended Struthers High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy from February of 1952 until he was honorably discharged in December of 1955.

Mr. Stephenson served on the USS Grand Canyon in the Mediterranean. Ken was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local 35 in Youngstown and was their Business Agent from 1973 until he retired from the trade in 1987. He married his wife, the former Joan Kennedy, on November 10, 1956 and they had 61 happy years together.

Together they loved wintering in Palmetto, Florida for 26 years, where he enjoyed golfing and fishing. Besides his wife, Joan, he is survived by his daughter, Lora L. Sepion of Ashville, NC; son, Kenneth G. Stephenson of Austintown; sisters-in-law, Katherine Kennedy and Ethel Stephenson; nieces, Silvia VanHorn, Ruth Snavley, Tray Mason, Pam Mitchell, Debbie Shields, and Charla Morrison; and nephews, James Stephenson Jr., Charles Ledsome Jr., Scott Kennedy, and George Stephenson. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and James Stephenson Sr.; sisters, Ruth Engelhardt and Dolores (Ledsome) Leiter; a half brother, George Stephenson; brother-in-law, Thomas H. Kennedy; niece, Linda McLaughlin; and nephew, Robert Stephenson.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment at Lake Park Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to AustinWoods Nursing Center and Crossroads Hospice for their loving care they gave to both Ken and his family.
