Kenneth W Schaefer September 07, 1944 – April 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation A celebration of life for Kenneth Schaefer, 74, of Lincoln, NE formerly of Oacoma, SD will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 12:30 to 3:00 pm at the AmericInn Moose Lodge Conference room, 1981 E King St, Chamberlain, SD. Kenneth Wayne Schaefer was born September 7, 1944 to Arnold and Karolina (Drafahl) Schaefer of Reliance, SD. He was raised on a farm north of Reliance, SD with nine brothers and sisters.

He married Marlys M. Goos on Christmas Day in 1966 in Pierre, SD with his brother-in-law and his wife, Peter and Annie Goos, standing up for them. On Christmas Day 2016, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. To their union two daughters were born: Dawn Marie in 1967 and Kathy Lynn in 1970.

They made a home in the Chamberlain/Oacoma area until July 2016 when they moved to Lincoln, NE to live with his daughter, Kathy. He then moved to Brentwood Estates until his death. He worked at the Pepsi plant in his early years before working at the wholesale for 50 years; retiring in 2016.

Kenny passed away on April 17, 2019 in Lincoln, NE at the age of 74 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his daughter Dawn Marie Schaefer-Monahan, husband Jim Monahan, granddaughters, Brooklyn and Ella of Omaha, NE and daughter, Kathy Lynn Holt, grandsons Elijah and Noah of Lincoln NE. He is also survived by three brothers, Dalbert and wife Mary of Reliance; Ronald and wife Peggy of Sturgis; and Wesley and wife Judy of Gillette, WY; two sisters, Catherine Peterson of Kennebec and Carolyn Hoppe and husband Roland of Meridian, ID.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marlys; and three brothers Lenny; Arnold D., Jr; Gary; and infant sister Ruth.
