Kenneth’s Obituary Kenneth W. Carlson, 78, of Topeka, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 26, 2019 at a local hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 27, 1940 the son of Everett and Geneva (Tulien) Carlson. Kenneth was a union journeyman printer for Stauffer Publications for many years.

He served in the Kansas Army National Guard for six years as a Medic and Military Police. He was a first responder and ambulance medic for Cross Ambulance. Kenneth was a car salesman for most of his life and owned Carlson Motors in the 70’s and 80’s.

He worked for many Topeka dealerships throughout the years and retired from Laird Noller Ford. Recognized as one of the best car salesman in Topeka, Kenneth was best known for his love of a good time. He enjoyed live music, dancing, partying with his many friends, telling a great story and lots of laughter.

He carried great pride and a deep love for his family and cherished his friendships. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a supporter of many local charities. He was preceded in death by his wife Marianne in 2018, a son, Kevin W. Carlson in 2001, a sister Karolyn Carlson, and his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Bud) Emmot, step-son, Dale Michael, a sister, Marcy Carlson, two granddaughters, Emily and Hannah Emmot, and three great grandchildren, Ontarius and Kae’Lean Barefield and Amarion Brooks. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31st, from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Legion or the Veterans of Foreign Wars and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave. , Topeka, Kansas 66603.
