Kenneth Wood, April 11, 1942 — May 06, 2019

Kenneth Hagen Wood, 77, of Surgoinsville, TN, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home after an extended illness. Kenneth was born April 11, 1942 and was the son of the late Robert and Katie Wood. He retired from AFG Glass Plant.

In his lifetime he held numerous jobs including owner/operator of four convenience stores, a backhoe service with his best friend, Donald “Peanut” Henderson. He was a carpenter with his Dad and a farmer. He enjoyed canning and giving away his garden vegetables.

He also enjoyed attending Tennessee Walking Horse Shows. He was a faithful member of Amis Chapel UMC. He held numerous offices in the church.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, Cleson and Fred Wood; and his father-in-law, App Davis. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Wood, of the home; son, Randy (Robin) Wood, of Church Hill; daughter, Tammy (Kenny) Turner, of Surgoinsville; his pride and joy grandchildren, Cory (Kaylen) Wood, Dylan Wood, Katie Turner, and Patrick Turner; the apple of his eye great granddaughter, Lily Rhea Wood; three special nephews who always checked on him, Dave, Rick, and Matt Wood; sister, Wanda Klepper, of Rogersville; sister-in-law, Shirley Wood, of Surgoinsville; brothers-in-law, Bennie (Sue) Davis, of Surgoinsville, Leroy (Libby) Davis, of Morristown; mother-in-law, Mary Davis, of Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Fresenius Kidney Care Center for your excellent care the last five years.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home of Rogersville. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Greg Fletcher, Rev.

Mike Cutshaw, and Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Bethel Cemetery.
