Kenneth Thomas “Tom” Leys August 17, 1941 – January 21, 2019 Kenneth Thomas “Tom” Leys of Albany died on January 21st. He was born on August 17th 1941 in Nassau County, Long Island, New York to Kenneth Alten Leys and Helen Hudson of Lynbrook, New York. He married Karen Sue Wood on February 7th, 1970 in Lynbrook, NY.

Their only son, John Walter Leys, was born in 1973. In 1976 Tom and Karen moved to Oregon, where Karen had been born and settled in Albany in 1977 where they would spend the rest of their lives. Tom was preceded in death by Karen, his brother Walter Joseph “Wally” Leys, both his parents, his nephews Michael Cunningham and David Stevens, and his grand-nephew Corey Cunningham.

He is survived by his son John Leys, his daughter-in-law Justine Leys, his grandson Tristyn Leys-Brower, his sister Pat Spoon, his sister-in-law Charlotte and her husband Dave Bridges, his brother-in-law John Wood and his wife Ruth, 6 nieces, 5 nephews, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A celebration of life in Tom’s honor will be held on February 2nd at 11am at the Phoenix Inn in Albany. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to either the ALS Association or The Alzheimer’s Association.
