Kevin’s Obituary Kevin Dale Schaefer, of Pierre, SD, died on January 22, 2019 at Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 64. He was born on January 29, 1954 in Mobridge, SD.

He graduated High School in Pierre, SD in 1972 and served in the US Navy from 1974 to 1978. In 1979 he married Shelly Roussel and together they had two children, Joshua and Mallory. Kevin worked at the City of Pierre Electric Department for twenty years and then opened his own business working on small engines.

Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling around the Black Hills and spending time with friends. He was also a Oahe ABATE member and enjoyed working with that organization in volunteer events. He was a very strong and independent man with a good sense of humor.

He had a huge heart and would always be willing to help out if you needed him. He will be greatly missed by many. Kevin is survived by his son, Joshua, his daughter, Mallory, two brothers, Scott and Keith, and one sister, Cheryl, three grandchildren, Kaden, Logan and Penelope.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shelly, his parents, Lila and Joseph and one sister, Patty. A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at the American Legion on February 1, 2019 at 5:30pm. Please join family and friends to tell stories, share pictures, and reminiscence about Kevin’s life.
