L. Sherwood Lennartson died on October 18, 2018, age 90 of Sewickley, formerly of Beaver, PA where he resided for over 50 years. He was born in Jamestown, New York, the son of the late A. Leo Lennartson and Elna S. Bloomberg Lennartson. He was a descendant of Swedish immigrant grandparents, a heritage of which he was especially proud.

In 1955, he met K.A. Britta Johnson who was from Norrtalje, Sweden. Five months later they married. He was devoted to his wife and a loving father of his two sons and grandchildren.

After graduating from Rochester, New York’s Brighton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Petty Officer 3c Electronics Technician at the end of WWII. After being discharged, he attended Union College in Schenectady, New York where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Administration, he served in the Air Force Reserve as a second Lieutenant for five years and also began working with Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an engineering sales correspondent.

He had a distinguished career of 34 years in a number of marketing, strategic planning and general manager positions among which included Marketing Manager and Strategic Planning Manager for the W Control Equipment Group, Directeur de la Division Appareillage in Herstal Belgium, Managing Director of Ottermill Limited in Ottery St. Mary England, General Manager of the Standard Control Division in Beaver, PA and Deputy President Europe Africa and Middle East for the Westinghouse Corporation. During and after his working years, he was active in the civic and business community activities including Chairman of the Molded Case Breaker section of NEMA, United Way board of directors, Merrick Art Gallery Associates, Corporation for Owner Projects board of directors. He was an Ordained Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver where he was a long-time member.

Sherwood was also a 32 Degree Mason, member of St. James Lodge No. 457 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle Consistory and the Syria Shriner. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography and skeet shooting.

On December 3, 2011, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, K. A. Britta Lennartson. Surviving him are a son, Carl Thomas of Arlington Virginia and his wife W. Caroline Wooden and a son Shawn Anders of Round Rock, Texas , a granddaughter Anna M. Lennartson and two grandsons Carl Anders Lennartson and Eric David Lennartson and brother-in-law David L. Ball. A sister, M. Suzanne Lennartson Ball of Los Altos, California predeceased him.

There are also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in the United States and Sweden. Funeral services: RD Copeland LTD, 867 Fifth Avenue Coraopolis, PA A Memorial Service at the Masonic Village at Sewickley will be December 15th 11 am with The Reverend Doctor Timothy Reichard, Director of Pastoral Care and The Reverend Jeffery Arnold, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Beaver PA will be presiding. A brief Interment service at the Beaver Cemetery is also pending Memorial Donations- may be donated to the Masonic Village at Sewickley and Shriners Hospitals for Children online at donate.
