Obituary for LaDonna Kay Jowers LaDonna Kay Jowers, 57, of Merkel passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at her home. She was born on September 16, 1961 in Abilene. LaDonna was a servant to others and dedicated her life to her assisted living facility, Almost Home, and to her Alzheimer’s and hospice patients.

LaDonna loved fishing, camping and watching and interacting with wildlife, taking care of her yard, bingo, her family and her dogs. She was as avid animal lover and enjoyed nursing anything back to health. Oh yeah, we can’t forget her Coca Cola with ice and burnt popcorn.

LaDonna is survived by her husband Milburn Jowers of Merkel; children Lisa Jonas of Merkel, Paul Jonas, Jr. of Merkel, Melanie Jowers, Stephanie Jowers, Greg Carpenter and Jamie Jowers; siblings Lawrence Dunn III, Melissa Campbell and Phil Dunn; and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Dunn and Shirley Hopps; step-father William Hopps; brother Lawrence Dunn, Jr.; and grandmother Almeda Redmond. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Merkel.
