David was born in La Junta, Colorado on September 24, 1963 the son of Leroy Brooks and Mary Jane Moore. He was united in marriage to Judy Wright on September 25, 1981 who survives and to this union his legacy began when two sons were born; Matt Brooks and friend Kenzie Harp of Washburn, Missouri and Kyle Brooks and his wife Jona of Cassville, Missouri, then continued with six granddaughters, Ali (Possum), Chloe (Chlo-bo), Aubrey (Aub-Dob), Lily (Lil-Bil), Mattison (Goober Jr), Mallorie (Mal-Mal).

Also surviving are five brothers, Mark, Allen, Tom, Jeff, J.R. and four sisters, Becky, Leah, Diane, and Donna and their families and numerous family members of the heart. His death pales in comparison to his legacy, to the love we shared and the life we built together. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Brooks, Mary Jane and Bob Thompson.

David received his education at Southwest R-V School. He worked at various jobs before he settled on his lifelong passion of Sheet Metal Fabrication at Northwest Arkansas Sheet Metal where he worked for over 30 years. His favorite pastimes were fishing, camping, gardening, woodwork, spending time with family and friends but mostly heckling anyone around him especially his granddaughters.

He loved the Lord and one of the verses that he referenced often during his illness was: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. “Life is God’s Gift to you, What you do with it is your Gift to God” Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
