Larry Dean Ingle, 76, of Newton died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 6, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Following the service there will be a lunch at the Izaak Walton League followed by burial at 1:30 p.m. at Vandalia Cemetery The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 5, at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association may be left at the funeral home. Larry, the son of Harold and Nola (Daugherty) Ingle, was born on January 13, 1942 in Bondurant. As a young boy he moved to Newton where he would live the rest of his life.

He was raised as a fine Christian man and was a faithful believer his whole life. Larry was a 1960 graduate of Newton High School. On January 17, 1960, Larry was united in marriage with Illa Mallory at the Church of Christ in Newton.

He worked for Thomberts, Parsons, Windpower, and later returned as a supervisor at Thomberts, where he retired from in 2004. He was active in the Cowboy Church and had also attended Community Heights Alliance Church. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting.

He also loved looking for a good deal at an auction or yard sale. Larry never met a stranger and was one of the most sharing and giving men you would ever meet. He was a one of a kind grandpa and many of the grandkids lovingly referred to him as “Grandpa Candy” because he ALWAYS had candy for them.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Illa Ingle of Newton; children, Danny (Maria) Ingle of Douds, Tammy Stucker of Newton, Twila (Denny) Marchant of Newton, Donny (Angie) Ingle of Newton, Tyann (Andy) Alexander of Aurora, Illinois, and Lariann (Scotty) Overbay of Newton; 40 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; his sister, Verlee Covington of Enola, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers in infancy; brother, Duane Ingle; and a daughter, Teresha Ingle.
