Larry Wayne Stacy July 22, 1941 – October 23, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Larry Wayne Stacy of Norman Oklahoma has passed from this world all too soon, at the age of 77. He was born July 22, 1941 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Don M. and Ellen I. Stacy. Larry grew up in Blanchard, Oklahoma with three siblings: two sisters, Carol and Donna, and one brother, Lynn.
Known as a kind and gentle man, he will be best remembered for his love of God, Family and Country. At an early age, Larry grew to love farming, ranching and gardening, following the example set by his grandparents, Eddie and Dovie Basler. At the age of twenty-one, Larry married the love of his life, Mary Katherine Williams, and moved to Norman to work and start their family.
The last twenty years of work found Larry enjoying a simple but profound interaction with his community as the proprietor of Hollywood Corners, a bait, tackle and convenience store, which has been a Norman landmark since 1925 and is recognized by many throughout the United States. Larry was a modest and unpretentious man whose character was exemplified by his compassionate and caring nature. He was intent on cultivating a sense of respect for others which could be passed on to future generations.
Larry’s example enriched the lives of not just his immediate family, but all who knew him. Left to cherish the joy of his life’s memories is his loving wife, Mary of the home; two sons, Bret Stacy and wife, Dana, of Norman and Darry Stacy and wife, Tasha, of Norman; three grandsons, Heath Stacy of Fort Carson Army Base, Brandon Stacy of Camp Lejeune Marine Base, and Karson Stacy of the University of Arkansas; two granddaughters, Keira Stacy and Curtis Shipman of Norman and Ashlie Bozell and husband, Steven, of Norman; six great grandchildren; and a large host of family and friends. In his final days, after a long battle with numerous health issues, Larry would often express the simple gratitude for all he had been given by saying, “It is well with my soul”.
Larry went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2018. Visitation for family and friends will be at 9:30am – 10:45am on Monday, October 29, 2018, at the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel, located at 2301 East Indian Hills Road in Norman, Oklahoma, with a graveside memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
